Melvins and Le Butcherette at Santos Party House 6/30/15

Had a pretty good time tonight, a bit of drama early on, but it ended up being a pretty cool evening.  So I showed up without a ticket as I usually do.  Ran into my friend Ben outside (we used to work at video/record store together).  So I was asking people for a ticket, someone had one but told me he was waiting to find out... no biggie.  Then someone else gives a ticket for free.  At this point, the first guy tells me he can get me in, so I figure I'll go in with him and text some friends to see if anyone wants a free ticket.  This is when things got weird.  I go in with the dude then he asks me for $25.  I told him I thought he was giving me a free ticket, then him and his girlfriend start yelling at me.  At this point I just said fuck it and went back outside.  I went to get a sponge cake ( I'm in Chinatown, by the way).  Came back used the ticket in my pocket, once I'm in the club the guy starts cursing at me again. ARGGH!!! This guy is a complete dick, so is his girlfriend, but I don't want to step on anyone's so I go to an ATM, and give the dude $25.  Whatever?!!!

So you wanna hear about the show? I've seen the Melvins a bunch of times.  They now have the bass player from the Butthole Surfers.  Don't know the guys name, but he's good.  Apparently, they did a couple of BH Surfer songs.  Didn't recognize them.  Their was point in the show where they yelled "STOP" and Buzz started doing a sorta drunk Otis Campbell soliloquy.  Enjoyed that, also liked when they veered into faster more melodic stuff.  Another, highlight was a cover of Rebel Girl by Bikini Kill.  For that one the singer of Le Butcherette sang, pretty spot on.
